George “The Calisthenic King” Hit Talks With Simplyshredded.com

How did you get started with bodybuilding?

I got started with bodybuilding & fitness when I first saw Bruce Lee’s incredible physique. I was very young at the time but I was blown away by his ripped upper body and amazing fighting skills and speed.

After that I had a very strong love for fitness and from that point on and knew I wanted to obtain a physique exactly like his or even better.

Where does your motivation come from?

My motivation comes from within myself, because I love to constantly challenge myself to new levels of fitness, my motivation also comes from seeing the results my clients achieve and their amazing transformations. I have a true passion for fitness and an intense drive to succeed. I believe that drive in combination with dedication, determination, and discipline is the key to achieving success in fitness and in life.

What workout routine has worked best for you?

For the past several years, my workout routines have only consisted of calisthenics/bodyweight exercises and they have worked extremely well in the development of my physique! My current workout consists of strictly calisthenics, which is natural body weight exercises and movement. I work my entire body (upper and lower) through such exercises with a proper range of motion while doing the exercise. This helps to increase my inner strength and muscle synastry. My workout routine would include 10 sets of around the world, which consist of 10 sets of 20 behind the neck pull-ups, 10 sets of 30 basics dips, and 10 sets of 15 freestanding handstand push-ups, then I’ll do 10 sets of 50 natural squats with NO WEIGHTS, and 15 minutes of jumping rope.

The key factors when I am training are mental focus and physical focus on form and the specific muscles I am targeting. I also push myself to achieve new personal fitness goals, which motivates me because I will not stop until the goal is met!

If you have to pick only 3 exercises, what would they be and why?

  1. Muscle-Up (pull-ups)
  2. Full standing sit-ups
  3. Freestanding Handstand push-ups

The reason why I pick these 3 exercises is because they are very intense and have been able to develop my upper body incredibly over the past years.

What is your diet like?

My diet is very strict and consists of foods with high protein and low carbohydrates. My diet varies daily, four times a week I eat three “large” meals and three times a week I eat five “small portioned” meals.

Sample Daily Diet (Large Meals):

  • Breakfast: I’ll eat 3 egg whites with 1 slice of whole wheat toast dry
  • Lunch: I’ll have a toasted sandwich with tuna and low fat cheese
  • Dinner:  I’ll eat grilled chicken with steamed broccoli
